Any place you find a large chasm splitting the landscape, it seems that people (and tourism boards) are tempted to compare it to the Grand Canyon: the Grand Canyon of New Zealand, the Grand Canyon of Hawaii, and yes, the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks.
