A trip to see plantation homes along the Lower Mississippi while in Louisiana was many things: beautiful, educational, sad. We got a glimpse of antebellum life on both ends of the spectrum. Here, the beautiful porch of the San Francisco House, and slave quarters at Evergreen Plantation.

It would be well worth your time to take the guided tour of the Rabb Plantation home. Larry Lof has an amianzg amount of historic information to share about the home, the area and the state of Texas. The home’s fireplaces and stained glass front door are beautiful. It will be interesting to watch the restoration.
