Since New Orleans is hosting the Super Bowl for the record 10th time, and since it is one of my very favorite places on earth, it seemed only appropriate to post some #FriFotos! Rather than play like the boring guy who just got back from vacation and is making everyone watch his slideshow, I thought a few collages and maybe an Instagram or two would do better. I hope you enjoy them – I sure enjoyed taking them!
French Quarter – le Vieux Carre, the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans and one of the most distinct in all the world.
Friends, family, even complete strangers frequently ask what I like so much about New Orleans. Ah, ce qui n’est pas d’aimer? What is not to love? The art and architecture, the music, the food, the river and her boats, the people, the culture, the history…I could go on all day but…here – look at a picture and tell me what’s not to love!
The Garden District – By all means, get out of the Quarter for a bit! The Garden District is not far away and it is stunningly beautiful. Homes will give you a glimpse of life in a bygone era, and Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 might even give you a slight chill!
Today, the area is a National Historic Landmark district with many well known landmarks, establishments and celebrity residents. A walking tour, self-guided or with a professional guide, is well worth it. Be sure it includes a tour of Lafayette Cemetery!
What’s your favorite part of New Orleans? What makes the Crescent City special to you or, if you’ve never been there, what is it that you can’t wait to see?
