There’s something about boutique hotels. Whether it’s the small, almost B&B atmosphere and equally intimate staff, or the unique look and feel that speaks just to you, they generally make a trip that much more special.
I know what you’re thinking: “If only we could put a boutique hotel on the water.” That’s exactly what award-winning Uniworld Boutique River Cruises did when their sister company, Red Carnation Hotels, designed their ships. The SS Antoinette is widely regarded as one of the most elegant ships afloat, and she’ll be joined in 2014 by the “Super Ship” SS Catherine. Super ship because, at 443 feet, Catherine will be one of the line’s largest vessels. That extra room affords passengers five 305 square foot suites, and one Royal Suite measuring 410 square feet. Similar to Antoinette, all suites and staterooms on the top deck will offer full open-air private balconies, which convert to enclosed conservatories with the touch of a switch. Despite the additional space, the passenger list is limited to just 159, fewer than most competitors.
Catherine sets sail on the Rhône and Saône rivers in Burgundy and Provence in Spring, 2014.
