The Weekly Win: Attempting to go around the world by winning Travel Sweepstakes!
This post is a little different than most of our sweepstakes posts in that it’s not about a particular contest you can enter. And it’s not just about the contests, as you’ll see.
When I was a kid, I never left a hotel without raiding the lobby stand with brochures for quirky attractions, local museums, and Must See hidden gems. It was plain to see I was a travel addict just waiting for a driver’s license, or enough money to buy a plane ticket.
I leave most of those brochures at the hotel now, largely because you can find so much on the internet. In particular, the web site VacationFun.com is essentially a cyber version of the lobby brochure cart. There are dozens of links and brochures (some online, some by mail) for nearly every state in the union. The Travel Stories section has many magazine-style articles, as well. Not surprisingly, it’s a product of Madden Media, which produces said brochures along with the travel section of Oprah’s O Magazine.
Of course, we are interested in vacation sweepstakes, and they offer quite a few. Each has different prizes, rules, and entry periods, so it’s best to browse the page periodically. We’re sure you will find something that interests you. You just may find your next vacation, even if you don’t win it. Just remember, it’s a media company and their job is to market vacation destinations. That means you’ll likely be signing up to receive something by email, postal mail, or both. You can opt out of most, as we have.
Example Travel Sweeps from Vacation Fun
As an example of what you’ll find, the day we wrote this there were 14 travel sweepstakes advertised, including:
- Texas Wine Getaway in Fredericksburg
- Greater Merrimack Valley Vacation
- White Mountains of New Hampshire Getaway
- An amazing getaway to Durango, Colorado
- A couples getaway to Wyoming
You get the idea – many destinations, several themes, all at one website: VacationFun.com (http://www.vacationfun.com/promo/sweepstakeslist.asp).
Good luck!
Note: Travel Sweepstakes featured in The Weekly Win are not affiliated with, nor administered or endorsed by, TravelLatte. The Weekly Win is neither solicited nor compensated. In the belief that it’s better to win a trip than to scrimp and save for one, we just thought you’d appreciate hearing about some of the travel sweepstakes we find.
