The last thing you want when you’re sick or injured while traveling is a nasty surprise from your insurance company. Call before your trip to find out how your coverage might be affected. For example, are there doctors in your network in the cities you’ll be visiting? Are you covered in foreign countries; if so, which ones? Ask how your insurance works in conjunction with any trip insurance you’re considering. If you’ll be driving, check auto policies, too. Not only will this give you peace of mind, but you may find some duplicate coverage that you can eliminate for savings.
