It’s too bad Valentine’s Day comes but once a year, because there’s a little romance going on!
Everybody loves Uber, it seems, and Starwood Preferred Guest is the loyalty club darling of many travelers. Now, Uber and SPG have paired up for a big ol’ love fest. Or, at least, a points fest: As of today, SPG members can earn points for their Uber rides!
Here’s the deal on the wheels: SPG members who link their accounts and request an Uber car will earn at least a point per dollar (provided they have at least one stay at a Starwood property in the calendar year). That’s every ride, every day. But, if you hop into an Uber-mobile while you are staying at a Starwood property, you get a bonus point per dollar, two bonus points if you’re SPG Gold, or three for SPG Platinum members. That’s up to four points per dollar for doing something you’re likely already doing!
Since this is a pretty big deal, the dynamic duo is kicking things off with the SPG #SuiteRide on Saturday (February 28) in five global hot spots: Dubai, London, Mexico City, New York and San Francisco. Uber riders who’ve linked their Uber and SPG accounts can choose the SPG vehicle option in the Uber app when requesting a car between 2pm and 7pm (local time). Lucky riders who score the Suite Ride will have a totally branded door-to-door experience that includes coveted amenities like a Westin Heavenly robe or a W Bliss Spa travel pack, and 15,000 Starwood points (enough for a free night)!
There is a catch, of course. There are a limited number of SPG #SuiteRides available, and neither Uber nor SPG can guarantee there will be enough SPG vehicles to meet demand. It’s strictly first come, first served, and you can only score one SPG #SuiteRide during the promotion.
