In today’s world, hotel rooms are just a click away, but don’t just click away and think you’re done. When you make reservations with an online travel agency, or on a hotel company’s website, your reservations go to a central reservations system. It’s not unheard of for the hotel to not get complete information, or occasionally even the wrong rate or package. So it’s always a good idea to follow up directly with the hotel to make sure your reservation is accurate, and the hotel knows about any special wants or needs.

Usually, the hotel’s direct phone number is listed on the company’s web site, or can be found in Google. Make sure you’re calling the hotel’s local number, not an 800-number, which likely get you to the main reservations system.

While you’ve got them on the phone, be sure to ask about any local rates or specials. Even if they are not any less expensive, you might uncover special packages or events that you can take advantage of. All it takes is a phone call to the hotel itself.
