It seems that we’ve been getting complimentary pillboxes from all sorts of places lately. (Perhaps an indication that we’re not 20something anymore?) A good number of them went into the recycle bin, until we figured out how to “upcycle” them into something useful. We now have a few that we’ll pack for different types of trips, and we keep them stocked so we can grab and go!
Turn a Pillbox into a Travel Box!
- Jewelry Wardrobe
- Any fashionista will tell you, it’s all in the accessories! The problem is keeping them neat and safe while traveling. The small compartments of a pill box are perfect for holding rings, earrings, and necklaces without getting all tangled up. It adds a little extra security, since most people aren’t going to snatch your pill box when they’re looking for valuables.
- Office Organizer
- We’ve done a fair amount of work in hotel rooms, coffee shops, and airplanes. Number one problem: Can’t find a paper clip when you need one! Solution? Stash some office essentials in a pillbox. The size is great for a few small items, including rubber bands, small binder clips, brads, and erasers.
- Make-Up Kit
- Instead of packing make-up, moisturizers, toners and the lot, try filling the compartments of a good, watertight pillbox with small amounts of your beauty routine must-haves. You’ll save room and weight, and come in under the TSA’s 3-ounce rule.
- Medicine Cabinet
- Even if you don’t have daily medication to pack, you probably take along a few things, “just in case.” Allergy tablets. Pain killers. Band-Aids. M&Ms. (Because #chocolate!) That pillbox makes a handy, travel-sized emergency kit. You can even fill one compartment with a needle, thread and buttons, because sometimes it’s your shirt that has the emergency.
- Spa-in-a-Pill-Box
- We saved the best for last. Seven compartments, right? Load those up with bath beads, bubble beads, and aromatics, filling a few of them with Epsom salt (because it’s good for you!). Nothing soothes and renews after a long-haul flight or a day of sightseeing like relaxing in the tub.
