#Travel140 #TravelTip: Don’t assume an upgrade is better. Ask how it’s different. Would YOU call it an upgrade?

Hopefully, you’ve heard the words “we’ve upgraded your room” from a nice front desk agent when checking into a hotel. But did you ever wonder if you really got an upgrade? Ask questions about the room you booked and the upgraded room. Just because it’s a higher rate or the hotel thinks it’s a better room, doesn’t mean it’s a better value. Make sure YOU think it’s an upgrade.

For example, we recently got upgraded to a City Room View, which was right above a noisy train station. We preferred the original room on the other side of the hotel which didn’t have a great view but was nice and quiet. If you’re polite and grateful, you might wind up with an even better room that suits you perfectly.
